Stephen Arnold, the youngest son of William Arnold, resided for some time in Providence then moved to Pawtuxet. He owned a large amount of property in Rhode Island, a portion of which, called the Coweset Purchase, he divided among his sons before his death.
He was prominent in public affairs and filled important positions in the colony..... his brother was governor. He was chosen Deputy Governor in 1664 and Assistant in 1667.
